Ford Auxiliary Idle Control Module Wiring Diagram

I've done some reading looking to use the factory high idle for PTO operations. I have found references to hook 12V power to wire 322 LB/Y to engage the high idle for a PTO. Has anybody hooked up a high idle controller this way or had any experience with it?

I found this, just don't know if it will work with a 7.3 harness

it didn't have what i wanted, but it did give reference to the body building guide for wiring the pto. I've seen other pages with references to that LB/Y wire for pto speed engage but i just want to be certain before i throw 12V at it

Let us know if you find that wire. There were some pretty dramatic wire changes in '02 and that article is in reference to a 6.0L '03.

Read the top of page 1 in that link. That is only for '05-up PSDs.

Beginning in '05 model year, Ford incorporated the auxiliary idle control (AIC) logic in the PCM (computer that runs the engine). So folks with '05-up PSDs just have to do some wiring and install some switches to have a "free" AIC.

But none of the 7.3L engines can use that method. For us, we have to buy the Ford AIC kit, which includes the auxiliary PCM (APCM, also called the AIC). The logic for elevated idle and other PTO functions is included in the auxiliary PCM, not the main PCM.

I would show you a photo of my APCM installed, but the photo function of TheDieselStop is broken right now.

Buried somewhere in the articles on TheDieselStop there is one for wiring up a "free" high-idle function only on 7.3Ls with either the manual tranny or on those rare automatics that have the optional PTO provision. Since almost all 7.3Ls have automatic without the PTO provision, that article won't do most of us any good.

However for the '03 with the PTO.

b. "Elevated Idle Feature": this feature is inherent in the powertrain control modules of diesel engine vehicles ordered with "Transmission Power Take-Off Provision". Activating the Ford "PTO Circuit" will automatically elevate the engine idle to 1200 rpm in "PARK" or "NEUTRAL" regardless of the parking brake being set.

This feature does not require use of the Auxiliary Idle Control option or APCM module.

This feature is not available for manual transmission.</div></div>
